INHED Annual Scientific Meeting

'Embracing the Future of Health Professions Education'
The UCC Interprofessional Learning team were busy presenting and contributing to the INHED Annual Scientific Meeting which was held at UCC on 22nd and 23rd May and hosted by the Medical Education Unit. The team highlighted the exciting Interprofessional Learning initiatives and person-centred teaching underway in the College of Medicine and Health UCC, ensuring our graduates are prepared for future collaborative practice.
The meeting was titled: 'Embracing the Future of Health Professions Education.'
Patient-led session:
Bridging Education and Practice - The Patient Perspective of Getting Involved in Interprofessional Education.
Kayleigh Twomey, a graduate of the UCC ID Plus programme spoke about the importance of communication and considering the health service from the perspective of a person who communicates differently.
Tracy and Willow Carroll highlighted the importance of listening, and spoke of the importance of advocacy and inclusion, and the opportunity we have to create Inclusive practice in our learning and generate a ripple effect into society.
Ann Twomey shared how she has worked with clinicians in Dementia care fostering person-centred care, connecting and communicating with people and their families and carers.
