First Year Interprofessional Learning Sessions Expansion
Over 950 students across first year programmes participate in our workshops!
This year the First year Interprofessional Learning workshop series has expanded significantly with over 950 students across first year programmes in the College of Medicine and Health, and the School of Applied Social Studies (CACSSS) and Food Nutrition Sciences (SEFS) participating.
This exciting workshop series provides students with an opportunity meet and learn from students in other healthcare programmes. Students have the opportunity to learn about each other’s roles and responsibilities and about the principles of effective communication in healthcare teams. Students learn about ISBAR, a communication tool recommended to optimise patient and outcomes, ensuring relevance and applicability to all students involved.
The workshops are supported and facilitated by a steering group of academic staff from all programmes involved and the COMH Team. A suite of online learning material has been developed and shared with students on Canvas to enhance their understanding of interprofessional collaboration.
