You are invited to attend a free webinar considering the issues relating to the law on the prescriptive acquisition of easements and profits. This webinar will take place on Wednesday 24 February, 4:30pm-6:00pm.
About this Event
The transition period established under the LCLRA 2009, as extended by the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011, will end on 30 November 2021. In light of this upcoming deadline, this seminar considers the full range of issues relating to the law on the prescriptive acquisition of easements and profits including:
- The new legislative regime
- Is it necessary to take action before 1 December 2021?
- Problems with the Section 49A procedure
- The future of statutory declarations as to long use
- Extinguishment of easements and profits through non-use
- Can the law be amended before the deadline?

Speakers and Format
The webinar will be chaired by The Hon. Ms. Justice Marie Baker with speakers Professor John Mee from the UCC School of Law, who has written extensively in this area, Peter Bland SC, author of 'Easements' (3rd edition, 2015), and Deirdre Fox, Solicitor, member (and former Chair) of Law Society Conveyancing Committee.
Our speakers will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
