Joint Committee on Climate Action publishes pre-legislative scrutiny of the Draft Climate Action and Low-Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2020

Professor Áine Ryall gives evidence to the Joint Committee on Climate Action in October 2020. Her observations and recommendations on the draft legislation are included in the Committee’s report.

The School of Law's Professor Áine Ryall gave oral evidence to the Committee as they considered the Bill in October 2020.

The draft Bill aims to strengthen the statutory framework for more effective governance of the State’s climate objectives.

Professor Áine Ryall, Co-Director, Centre for Law and the Environment was invited to give evidence to the Committee during its deliberations on the draft Bill.  Her observations and recommendations on the draft legislation are included in the Committee’s report. The report was published on 18 December 2020 is available on the Committee's website here.  It sets out 78 recommendations to strengthen the draft Bill, and includes a follow-up submission made by Professor Ryall to the Committee elaborating on points raised during her evidence session.
