BCL Law and Business Students Win Awards for Entrepreneurship

Congratulations to Nick Cotter, BCL Law & Business Student, Winner of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards and Annie Madden, BCL Law & Business Student, Enterprise Ireland's Student Entrepreneur of the Year. 

Nick Cotter, BCL Law & Business Student, has recently been named this year’s grand champion of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA). Founded by Nick and his brother Jack, Cotter Agritech is an Irish start-up specialising in selective treatment systems for sheep. On being named the 2022 grand champion Nick said, ‘It's an incredible achievement and pure joy for me… it's much more than I ever thought was possible, becoming global champion".  Following a year-long nomination, application and pitch process, Nick was announced as the winner during the finale of a YouTube mini-series, ‘Start It Up’, and has received a US$400,000 prize to invest in his company.

Annie Madden, BCL Law & Business Student, was recently awarded Student Entrepreneur of the Year at the Enterprise Ireland Awards. Founded by Annie and her sister Kate, FenuHealth creates powdered supplements for horses that can be added to feed to prevent stomach problems. As well as the €10,000 Student Entrepreneur of the Year prize fund, the founders of FenuHealth will now receive mentoring from Enterprise Ireland to further develop the company. On being named winner, Annie said, ‘I am delighted to have won Student Entrepreneur of the Year at the Enterprise Ireland Awards. It is great recognition for FenuHealth and shows the quality of our products… Thank you to UCC and Quercus for all for their help and constant support’.
