Five a Day
Five a Day
One of the main concepts of State of Mind Ireland is the five-a-day strategy for health and happiness. The aim is that everyone should try to include as many of these five actions into their daily life as possible in order to improve both physical and mental health.
1. Connect
Connect with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours. At home, at work, or in your local community.
2. Be Active
Go for a walk, run, cycle, or play a game. Step out into the garden, dance or exercise, it will make you feel good. Discover a physical activity you enjoy and that suits your level of mobility and fitness.
3. Take Notice
Be curious and aware of the world around you and what you are feeling. Reflecting on your experiences will help you appreciate what matters to you.
4. Keep Learning
Try something new, rediscover and old interest, sign up for a course, take on a different reponsibility at work, learn to play an instrument or how to cook something new. Set a challenge you enjoy. It's a fun way of gaining more confidence.
5. Give
Do something nice for a friend or even a stranger. Thank someone, smile, volunteer your time. Be kind to others and yourself.
