There have been two new exciting developments in the area of study skills for students this academic year.
Firstly, the Learning Technologies Unit have collaborated with the DSS to bring students Resources For Education (RED), a fully interactive e-learning resource, which will help students develop the study skills they need to be successful and is suitable for students on all courses and in any year of study.
RED covers a range of core skills including how to write better essays, use greater critical analysis, listen closely in lectures, write clearer notes and face exams with confidence.
Another development is the Learning Inspirations blog, where students with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties can find out handy hints and tips for study, technology and academic skills in general for students with dyslexia. The blog is quick and easy to use and is a great quick reference tool.

The Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) is a college and university admissions scheme which offers places on a reduced points basis to school leavers with disabilities. DARE has been set up by a number of colleges and universities as evidence shows that disability can have a negative effect on how well a student does at school and whether they go on to college. More information can be found on the Access College website, the dedicated website for DARE.

It is an open access facility with the latest range of technologies and software to assist students with disabilities.
