What Is Financial Support?
Attending third-level education can be expensive - from accommodation to your annual fees. Our Student Financial Support & Advice department offers a free, friendly and confidential service to University College Cork students to provide the help you need to find detailed information on possible ways to bridge the financial gap.
Our department provides you with both a Student Assistance Fund and a Student Budgetary advisor for any specialised queries you may have.
What Support Does the Financial Support Department Provide?
- Budgeting advice for general college life.
- Information on the Student Assistance Fund
- The Financial Aid Part-Time Fund provides financial assistance for part-time higher education students.
- Guidance with Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) applications and appeals.
- Welfare and BTEA advice.
- Laptop Scheme to support disadvantaged students in higher education.
- 1916 Bursary for students who are most socio-economically disadvantaged and from groups most under-represented in higher education.
- Comprehensive information regarding available Scholarships to current and prospective UCC students.
- The Access UCC Traveller Success Fund is a bursary scheme established to assist students from the Irish Traveller Community.

How Do I Contact the Student Assistance Fund Team?
The Student Assistance Fund team are here to help. Each student’s situation is unique, and we can help you make sense of the process in many situations such as:
- Student Assistance Fund queries
- Being unable to complete your online application,
- Financial Aid Part-Time Fund Queries
You will need to book an appointment with us, but we have multiple time slots available during the week for you to come and chat with one of our advisors. Our informal chat will help you make sense of what you need to meet the requirements for getting financial assistance.
How Do I Contact the Student Budgetary Advisor?
If you are facing complications with SUSI, DSP, have a complex financial situation or want someone to talk to about planning your time in UCC, the Student Budgetary team are here to help.
The Student Budgetary Advisor will be able to assist you in the following areas:
- Guidance with Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) applications and appeals.
- Social Welfare and BTEA advice.
- Information on the 1916 Bursary.
- New Avenues to Teaching
- Budgeting and financial planning.
