UCC Department of Music launches Spring 2025 FUAIM Programme

FUAIM Music at UCC is thrilled to announce the Spring 2025 series of Friday lunchtime concerts, which once again brings an eclectic mix of musical talent to the heart of campus. Featuring a diverse array of performers, this season offers something for everyone. As always, all performances begin at 1:10pm and are open to the public and free of charge. We hope you can join us each week for a perfect Friday midday musical escape!
Concert Highlights:
· The Vanbrugh & Friends (24 Jan & 28 Mar): performing Brahms’ String Quintet in B Minor and Mozart’s String Quintet in C Major, The Vanbrugh will also be joined by the wonderful young musicians of the Gealach and Meliora quartets.
· entr’acte (31 Jan): featuring four of Cork city’s most exciting artists – John Godfrey, Irene Murphy, Mick O’Shea and Karen Power
· UCC Traditional Artist in Residence 2025 (7 Feb): celebrating Irish Traditional Music. Supported by the Arts Council and in association with TradFest 2025.
· Next Experiment (14 Feb): contemporary jazz quintet redefining musical boundaries.
· The Dónal ‘Doc’ Gleeson Awards: a showcase of the exceptional talents of UCC Department of Music’s undergraduate student performers
· Ger Wolfe (28 Feb): Cork’s beloved and renowned singer-songwriter, part of his Spring solo tour and the release of his tenth album, Songs from Freeman’s Ballyvourney Collection
· Fandango Guitar Duo (7 Mar): Colin McLean and David Keating showcase contemporary and classical guitar repertoire.
· ghOstMiSt (14 Mar): innovative and experimental Balinese music and dance.
· GAO Yanming (21 Mar): virtuosic traditional and contemporary Chinese pipa music.
The series concludes with a special performance by the UCC Choir, directed by Dr. Eva McMullan-Glossop, featuring special guests Lisa Lambe and Steve Cooney (4 Apr).
