FUAIM in association with Quiet Lights & Raelach Records present Aoife Ní Bhríain, Diarmuid Ó Meachair & Niamh O'Brien

In our yearly collaboration, FUAIM Music at UCC and folk festival Quiet Lights have a wonderful concert with three of Ireland's most exciting traditional musicians. The concert showcases the considerable impact Raelach Records has had on Irish traditional music in Ireland since its inception. Raelach Records is an artist-run, traditional and folk record label based in county Clare, on the west coast of Ireland. The label was founded in 2011 by musician, producer and UCC lecturer in Irish Traditional Music, Dr. Jack Talty.

Aoife Ní Bhríain is one of Ireland's most recognizable fiddlers. She combines the richness of a family heritage of traditional music and a lifetime of classical music training. Born in Dublin she began studying the violin at an early age winning numerous national and international competitions for both classical and traditional Irish music. She has gone on to perform on some of the biggest stages in Europe as a soloist and ensemble member.

Diarmuid Ó Meachair is a Button Accordion player from Cúil Aodha in West Cork. He is also an accomplished 10 key melodeon player and sean-nós singer. He was recently awarded the prestigious Young Musician of the year award from TG4 for 2022. He is one of the most exciting accordion players of his generation.

Niamh O'Brien is harp player, singer and composer from County Limerick, Ireland. She completed her undergraduate degree in Irish Music and Dance at the Irish World Academy, UL, in 2014. Since graduating she has recorded and performed across Europe and the U.S with various groups including AnTara, Alyth McCormack, The Chieftains and contemporary trad trio, Hoodman Blind.
