Inaugural European Living Lab Hub (ELLH) meeting attended by 26 Alliances

Inaugural European Living Lab Hub (ELLH) meeting was held as the first step in the co-creation of the organization which was first envisioned in the HUB 23 event by the European Commission (EC) on October 22nd, 2024.
Reflecting the spirit of voluntary cooperation, Co-Chairs tasked with establishing a new European Living Lab Hub reached out to the European University Alliances and their members with an initial call of interest. Twenty six alliances responded to the initial invitation and demonstrated great interest in the initiative.
A first virtual meeting was held on 22 October 2025 introduced potential future members to the initiative, shaped its proposed governance structure and other important first steps. It was attended by 65 individuals, representing 26 alliances as well as individual universities and private sector organisations.
During the meeting participants shared experiences, discussed the concept of Living Labs and explored potential core goals for the Hub. A co-design session sought to better understand the collective needs, opportunities and landscape of Living Labs in Higher Education and considered:
- The Big Picture Opportunity for the Hub - How can a new European Living Lab Hub add value to your Living Lab work?
- Shared goals and ambitions - What might be our collective goals?
- Potential activities for the Hub - What should be our priority actions / activities?
- Working together and building the Hub - What the ELLH need to conduct its work and fulfil its goals?
The collective insights will be analysed by the Lead Team and inform a draft governance structure and porposed activities of the Hub.
