LGBT Commission Launch
National Coming Out Day - Unveiling of new commissioned artwork for University Art Collection
Monday 11 October, 1:15pm
On National Coming Out Day 2021, the Glucksman will be unveiling a new commissioned artwork by artist Stephen Doyle. The commissioned artwork was developed as part of a project run by the Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival and the Glucksman which invited members of LINC, The Gay Project, UCC Staff LGBT+ Network and Cork’s wider LGBT+ community to participate in a series of creative workshops at the museum.
The workshops were designed to enable the community to share their memories and experiences and to influence the artist in the creation of a new artwork. The commissioned artwork is being unveiled at the museum before being toured regionally as part of the Glucksman’s Art Library initiative, a new loan collection which places artworks in public and community venues. The artwork will be accompanied by educational resources that will be designed to encourage creative engagement with people of all ages.
