Field of Dreams

Pop up Pumpkin Stall event Notice

Field of Dreams Pop-Up Pumpkin Stall

Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 October, 12noon-2pm

If you are near campus, drop by CafĂ© Oasis in the Student Centre, where students from Cork Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland will be hosting a pop up stall to sell pumpkins grown from their 3 acre horticultural site in Curraheen. The students from the Field of Dreams work skills programme will also be delighted to tell you more about their drive-by initiative, where you can pick up your pumpkin at their facility in Curraheen throughout October.

Together with and for Community

Field of Dreams - Built in 2017 to meet the ongoing learning needs of adults with Down syndrome across Cork City & County, the Field of Dreams was developed by Down Syndrome Ireland, Cork branch. Their vision (and dream!!)  is to provide opportunities for adults with Down syndrome for ongoing learning and growth. For some this will move them towards a life of greater independence and self-reliance, for others, it will move them towards paid work. In this magical 3 acre horticultural site in Curraheen, built to meet their specific needs, the initiative focuses on providing days that are productive, busy, meaningful, and full of fun!

UCC Community Week: This event is part of UCC Community Week 2021. During Community Week, staff and students across the university come together with community and public sector partners to host community focussed events and activities. The week long programme of events celebrates UCC as a civically engaged university.

Thanks to UCC colleague and Graduate Attributes Programme Manager, Carol Veiga for connecting Field of Dreams with campus during Community Week.
