Eportfolios: creating reusable artefacts to make learning and teaching visible

19 Mar 2018
Eportfolios

Eportfolios are a flexible, dynamic way in which students can document their learning over time. The added convenience in being online is that artefacts created as part of learning can be used across multiple purposes. In the Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, students have been using the eportfolio system Pathbrite as a way of collecting evidence of their learning. As the students in this program are also teachers, the eportfolio serves the purpose of both learning and teaching repository.

This session will highlight the flexibility of eportfolios. The perspective will be both from a teaching perspective as potential use with students, as well as from a professional development perspective; demonstrating  how staff can use an eportfolio to showcase their work for purposes such as job or promotion applications.

The CIRTL seminar will be held at 12.30pm on Wednesday 21st March in the North Wing Council room. A light lunch will be provided to participants in the seminar. Please confirm your attendance by emailing Catherine O’Mahony, e: catherine.omahony@ucc.ie

Participants in the CIRTL Seminar series will be invited to gain a certificate of participation through UCC’s CPD Centre. For the full seminar series timetable here.
