The Summer School The role of drama in higher and adult language education: teacher training and the challenges of inclusionis aimed at Master’s students, PhD students, young researchers, scholars and practitioners in the area of second language learning and teaching who already engage in or would like to become involved in drama activities and to conduct research into these. The five-day (Monday-Friday) Summer School willtake place from 22 to 26 July 2019, and will be hosted at UniversitéGrenoble Alpes, France. Each morning will host one or two keynote speakers (in English), and on each afternoon two/three different workshops in two/three different languages (English, French, Italian) will be proposed.Read more
A one-day symposium on the theme “Classroom Acts: performativity, identity and the emergence of new communities in German language teaching.”17 Apr 2019
The event will be held at the Modern Language Centre at King's College London on Saturday 14th September 2019 and is primarily aimed at teachers of German as a Foreign Language in Higher Education and lecturers in German Studies or Theatre Studies. We also invite submissions from researchers and teachers specialising in related fields, provided the topic is transferable to German language teaching and/or German Studies.
We now invite proposals for 20 minute-papers or performative presentations (e.g. poster presentations, show-and-tell etc.).
Confirmed guest speakers and workshop leaders include Prof Catherine Boyle (King’s College London), Prof Manfred Schewe (University College Cork) and Prof Anne Steiner (Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg). The symposium organisers collaborate with the SCENARIO forum and plan a publication of selected papers in a special edition of the bilingual (English-German) online journal SCENARIO.Read more

At the Conference Drama in Education 2019 various aspects of and artistic approaches to European Identity will be up for discussion, viewed both from the inside and the distance. In these four and a half days workshop leaders and participants will explore diverging perceptions on Europe including critical voices. And maybe it works to contribute with theatrical instruments to shape a Europe in which we love to live in.
