On Thursday, 8 June 2023, the Deputy President and Registrar’s summer coffee morning took place in the Atrium of the Main Rest and it was a great opportunity for colleagues across the office of the DPR to come together to catch up after a very busy few months and to mark and celebrate the start of the summer.

As part of the coffee morning, DPR colleagues were invited to return any spare 2GoCups so that the €2 deposit per cup could be collected and then donated to a charity walk being undertaken by Carol Veiga, in the Student Recruitment Office, in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI). In October 2023, Carol will walk the last 118 kilometres of the coastal Portuguese route of the Camino de Santiago over 6 days to raise much needed funds to provide early intervention supports for children with Down Syndrome, including her daughter, Róisín (pictured). The coffee morning was generously supported from the 2GoCups and other donations on the day. This wonderful community act of solidarity, inclusivity and sustainability resulted in a fantastic contribution to this fundraiser, and both the generous financial and moral support from all the DPR office colleagues is deeply appreciated by the Veiga family and the many families it will benefit. We wish Carol every success with her training and with the walk in October when she will be on the road for Ró Ró!  ¡Buen Camino, Carol!
