Access UCC event

19 Jan 2023

On the evening of Thursday the 19th January Access UCC staff welcomed the public to an open clinic on the  HEAR and DARE schemes in the Dora Allman room. It was the first in-person clinic since January 2020 and allowed for Parents, prospective students, guidance counsellors and other interested parties the opportunity to get information on the application process for the HEAR and/or DARE scheme.

Staff and managers from the PLUS Programme, the Further Education Transitions Support Programme and from Disability Supports attended a healthy turnout of parents and prospective students, providing explanations and guidance on the application process and information on the benefits of each scheme. Staff attending the clinic highlighted the advantage of such face-to-face engagement, particularly with applicants from the most under-represented groups, leading to a greater understanding of the process and encouragement in knowing the full range of supports if they attend UCC. The warm welcome from an in-person engagement was very significant in the case of many of the families and students attending on the night.

Pictured at the in person HEAR/DARE clinic are students and parents talking one to one with the Access UCC HEAR and DARE practitioners.
