Prof. Ken O’Halloran delivers talk at the 4th Neural Control of Breathing Meeting
Prof. Ken O’Halloran delivered a talk at the 4th Neural Control of Breathing Meeting, a virtual satellite meeting of the 56th Annual Congress of the Brazilian Physiological Society (SBFis), October 15 2021.
Prof. O’Halloran’s talk was entitled “Control of breathing in neuromuscular disease: Lessons from the mdx mouse model of muscular dystrophy”, which provided an update on recent studies performed in the SFI-funded project INSPIRE DMD: Interventional strategies to protect and increase respiratory efficacy in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The 4-year project (2020-2024) will widen the understanding of respiratory system deficits and compensation in novel models of muscular dystrophy and explore novel pharmacotherapeutic approaches.
