Summer Internship Students 2017.

The Department of Physiology is delighted to welcome Michael Vaughan and Cian O’Halloran as they start their summer research internships.

Cian has just successfully completed the four year Physiology degree programme, CK402, here in UCC and is due to graduate in the autumn. Cian will join Dr Dervla O’ Malley’s research group and will be trying to understand inter-kingdom communication between gut bacteria and the host with Dr Maria Buckley.

Michael has just completed his third year of the Physiology BSc programme and will be working with Dr Mark Rae on a  project entitled, ‘An investigation of the potential role of the Mas-related receptor D (MrgD) in G-protein-mediated calcium signalling in hippocampal neurons from a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease (3xTg-AD)’. Michael’s research project is funded by the Physiological Society.
