Dr. Elise Lefeuvre, adjunct lecturer at UCC School of Law, visited campus in May for lectures and research projects
Dr. Elise Lefeuvre, former UCC PhD student, is adjunct lecturer covering primarily banking & financial law, as well as contemporary military topics.
During her stay at UCC, she gave a joint conference with Dr. Jonathan McCarthy (who co-supervised her PhD dissertation) on bank recapitalisation, this event was sponsored by the Centre of European Integration. Analysis of bank recapitalisation in Ireland and the EU was part of her PhD research, essentially evidencing that recapitalisation has been an efficient resolution measure for helping banks in high distress, while recapitalisation’s funding still requires a better anticipation to prevent controversy and to limit afterwards austerity measures. In addition, she gave a guest lecture for the MA Strategic Studies Summer School, which was a presentation of the main on-going projects at the French Army to implement the ‘win the war before the war’ strategy and to get prepared for high-intensity conflicts.
Alongside research, connecting with the students is also an important part of the adjunct lecturers’ assignment. Dr. Lefeuvre met LLM Business Law students to speak about their career interests in banking/finance.
UCC adjunct lecturers, like Dr. Lefeuvre, can be based outside of Ireland and can participate remotely to UCC life, which gives a significant flexibility for exercising their adjunct assignment in combination with both their careers and private lives. Having the chance to visit UCC campus from time to time remains a tremendous occasion to reinforce the connection with UCC staff and community.
