Film & Screen Media MA graduate Daniel Heaphy launches his debut novel Breanne 1975 at Dubray Books, Cork, Wednesday 4th September at 6pm

3 Sep 2024

Breanne 1975 is out now. The book is a fantasy-adventure set in a fictional village in rural Ireland. It is aimed at readers aged 11-15.

Outside of writing, Daniel is a filmmaker and actor and since 2020 has produced his own film documentaries and shorts under the banner of Daniel Heaphy Productions. He is the host of a podcast called Creatively Me which returns for a second season in late September. His guests to date have included Amy Winehouse’s photographer Charles Moriarty, and he has recently recorded with David Holmes for the second season, who was Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double on the Harry Potter films.

Breanne 1975: “The year is 1975, and Breanne Warner has just moved to the sleepy village of Ballycinn in the Wexford countryside, something the fifteen-year-old is not happy about. Forced by her parents to stop hanging around the house moping, Breanne is befriended by Oscar Badley, the only other kid in town who also doesn’t seem to fit in. But when the pair start to explore the ruins on the outskirts of Ballycinn, something is triggered in Breanne. A series of visions: A white dress. The sound of clapping. A girl’s scream. A hooded figure. Something strange is happening to Breanne, and it has something to do with a murder from over fifty years ago, a murder that relates directly to her past. Thus begins an adventure into the Ballycinn of old, risking the fury of an ancient community hidden within the Irish mountains, dedicated to ensuring the sanctity of time. As Breanne discovers more ancient secrets, and a mysterious force moves against her, she is faced with both wonder and danger beyond her wildest imagination.”

All welcome at the book launch at Dubray Books, Cork, 6pm Wednesday 4th September.
