The second feature film by award-winning director Carmel Winters goes on general release in May, following its success at the Toronto International Film Festival where it won the FIPRESCI Prize for the Discovery Programme.

Float like a Butterfly tells the story of a young Traveller woman who dreams of becoming a boxer. The film has already won rave reviews on the festival circuit. Carmel worked on the screenplay during her time as Film Artist in Residence (2014-5), in the Department of Film and Screen Media. Some of our students also got the opportunity to work on the set of the film, which was shot on location in West Cork.
