UCC Physiology in the Sunshine State

8 Mar 2018

Professor Ken O’Halloran and David Burns (PhD trainee) are invited to speak and participate at the inaugural Intermittent Hypoxia Retreat.

Symposium is hosted by the Centre for Respiratory Research & Rehabilitation, University of Florida (April 15-17, 2018). The focussed event will incorporate talks from international researchers interested in intermittent hypoxia: its physiological impact and therapeutic potential. The workshop approach will blend discussions from basic and translational science approaches to clinical studies and practise. Notwithstanding the known multi-system deleterious effects of chronic intermittent hypoxia, there is growing evidence in support of beneficial effects of modest exposures of intermittent hypoxia, paving the way for the development of novel therapeutic strategies in various diseases.
