14 Nov 2018

Róisín Sheehy visited UCC recently to speak to Creative Writing students as part of the MA in Modern Irish.
Róisín wrote 'Snámh na Saoirse,' a play about the drowning of Domhnall Criomhthain agus Eibhlín Nic Niocaill off the coast of the Blasket Island in 1909. She spoke about the sources she used, how she developed the story from a poem she wrote, and the challenges involved in adapting the story for stage. Róisín was awarded the Stewart Parker/BBC Northern Ireland Prize earlier this year.
