The short story writer, Colm Ó Ceallacháin, spoke to Second Year students about his award-winning collection I dTír Mhilis na mBeo (Cois Life, 2017) as part of GA2019 which is taught by Dr Isobel Ní Riain.

He also met with students taking the Creative Writing module in the MA in Modern Irish for a lively seminar facilitated by Dr Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh. As well as taking us through his creative process, he spoke eloquently about his experience in the Basque country as part of the European project 'Other Words' (see http://otherwordsliterature.eu/). This is a residential exchange programme among minority language communities across the EU with a view to creating networks between writers and minority cultures and to highlight the importance of language diversity. Foras na Gaeilge is responsible for the organisation of the scheme in Ireland. Colm is pictured here with Ailbhe and some of the MA students, Antóin, Nicole, Sinéad and Caoilann.
