How do I apply?

  • The study abroad application for academic year 2025/2026 is now closed
  • 2026/2027 study abroad information sessions will begin in October 2025

Application

  • Applications to study abroad will open for 2nd year students in November each year.
  • Students are required to research the modules at partner universities in advance of applying.
  • It is also very important to check that modules are taught in English (for non-language students)
  • Students registered in a number of international pathways will apply directly to their coordinator and not the International Office. This will be confirmed at the information sessions

Information sessions will take place in October and November each year 

Minimum grade requirements

  • A number of degree programmes at UCC require their students to meet minimum academic requirements to apply to study abroad
  • Subject to change and every effort is made to have the below information up-to-date. Please liaise with your academic coordinator before applying to study abroad.

BComm (Hons) - CK201 | University College Cork, Ireland

  1. at least 55% in their first attempt of the First University Examination in Commerce, and
  2. pass all modules and obtain at least 60% in the first semester of the Second University Examination in Commerce.

Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences

  1. 65% in 1st year and
  2. 65% in 1st semester of 2nd year (and maintaining this minimum for 2nd year)

Mathematical Sciences (CK407)

Students are required to speak with their academeic coordinator in advance of submitting an application

70% 

Physics 

Students are required to speak with their academeic coordinator in advance of submitting an application

School of Engineering

  1. 60% in 1st year and
  2. 60% in 1st semester of 2nd year (and maintaining this minimum for 2nd year)

Studying abroad outside the EU (Australia, Canada, USA and Singapore)

  1. 60% in 1st year and
  2. 60% in 1st semester of 2nd year
