We are now the DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE

Since around the mid-1970s students have been able to study aspects of Drama and Theatre at UCC. The MA Programme (which existed in various forms since 1986) and the BA in Drama and Theatre Studies (since 2001/02) were developed and overseen by the interdisciplinary Board of Drama and Theatre Studies. However, over the years administrative structures within UCC changed; in 2011 the academic discipline Drama and Theatre Studies joined the Department of Music to form the School of Music and Theatre, and in 2016 Drama and Theatre Studies became a department in the School. Given the fact that the name of the School reflects a distinct focus on the art forms of music and theatre, UCC recently approved the name of our department to be changed to DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE. Thank you for using the new name in all correspondence and other relevant contexts.
