Call for Proposals: 2026 Danijela Kulezic-Wilson Memorial Postgraduate Symposium

In honour of Dr. Kulezic-Wilson’s work, UCC will host the Danijela Kulezic-Wilson Memorial Postgraduate Symposium this year on Friday 16^th October.

Submission Date: Monday 15^th May 2026

Dr. Danijela Kulezic-Wilson was a member of staff at the University College Cork Music Department until her passing in 2021. Her innovative research on film music and sound is respected worldwide and is an outstanding exemplar of interdisciplinary thought.

In honour of Dr. Kulezic-Wilson’s work, and to further interdisciplinary research in artistic fields, UCC will host the inaugural Danijela Kulezic-Wilson Memorial Postgraduate Symposium this year.

The one-day event will host presentations by researchers from around the world, and provide the opportunity to exchange ideas, methodologies, and inspiration, as well as to network with others across and between specialisations.

Call for proposals

Proposals are welcome from postgraduate research students and postdoctoral researchers conducting interdisciplinary research involving the arts in any field.

We invite proposals for papers (maximum 20 minutes + 10 minutes Q&A), short workshops (maximum 40 minutes), performances (up to 20 minutes), films (up to 20 minutes) and any other ‘creative presentation’ formats appropriate to your research. If you are in doubt whether your presentation might be suitable, please contact us using the email address below.

Please note that our symposium spaces have standard AV equipment and that the organisation of additional equipment, materials, and personnel is the responsibility of presenters, although we will try to assist in cases where extra equipment is needed by those unable to bring it.

Submission

Email your proposals by May 15^th to <121128737@umail.ucc.ie> (subject: “DKW Symposium Proposal”)

Proposals should include your name and affiliated institution, title, and abstract of no more than 250 words.

Budget

Please note that there is a limited budget available to support participants without access to institutional funding. Please indicate when submitting your proposal if you require such support and to what extent. The Symposium cannot cover the entirety of a participant’s travel and accommodation costs.
