“Celebrating the Centenary; One hundred years of Irish Traditional Music Pedagogy at University College Cork” by Mary Mitchell-Ingoldsby.

3 Mar 2022

The 2022 Ó Riada Memorial Lecture was delivered at the Music Department's Ó Riada Hall by our own Mary Mitchell-Ingoldsby on Thursday 3rd of March.

Throughout the lecture, Mary documented many of the key pedagogical developments in the study of Irish traditional music at the UCC Music Department over the past 100 years. In addition, Mary discussed the contributions made by many of the iconic figures involved in the rich and dynamic history of Irish traditional music at University College Cork.
The Ó Riada Memorial Lecture Series was first established in 1985 by Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin and it has been delivered annually ever since. In keeping with tradition, Mary's lecture will be published and launched on the occasion of next year's Ó Riada Memorial Lecture in February 2023.
Among those pictured at the lecture are Matt Cranitch, Caitlín Nic Gabhann, Kelly Boyle, Michelle Finnerty, Mary Mitchell-Ingoldsby, and Jack Talty.
