Schools Outreach Overview
The School of Computer Science and Information Technology at University College Cork works very hard to provide outreach programmes to primary and secondary school pupils in Munster. Our programmes are designed to promote computer science education prior to entry into third level. We liase closely with students, teachers and parents so we can offer programmes that are relevant to the student needs. Our current outreach activies include:
Munster Programming Training - Junior
Munster Programming Training – is offered each year. The next course is expected to run from November 2020 to mid-March 2021 on Saturday mornings. Each student is expected to commit to the full course. Details will be available during September. We advertise through the secondary schools and within the Schools Outreach section of our webpage.
Munster Programming Training - Senior
Munster Programming Training – is offered each year. The next course is expected to run from November 2020 to mid-May 2021 on Saturday mornings. Each student is expected to commit to the full course. Details will be available during September. We advertise through the secondary schools and through the Schools Outreach section of our webpage.
Munster Programming Training - MPT Kiddo
This course is offered to primary school children predominantly in 5th and 6th class. It runs from January until May each year on Saturday mornings. We advertise via schools and through the Schools Outreach section of our webpage.
usually takes place for one week in June each year.
Each camp consists of 35 students. Students came from a wide range of schools across the Munster region and beyond.
1. Junior Camp - Age Group 12-14 year olds
2. Senior Camp - Age Group 15-17 year olds
Details with application form and rules are expected to be posted online again around April 2021. We hope to offer our camps during June 2021.
