About MPT Junior

MPT Junior is designed for junior cycle secondary school students (ages 13-14) from across the Munster region.

The programme offers students the chance to explore different areas of computing and develop new digital skills. It’s designed for students who enjoy problem-solving, creativity, and technology. Students should have an interest in technology and a curiosity about computing and programming.

This year’s modules:
  • 3D Modelling: create and design 3D objects using Blender, an open-source modelling tool
  • Minecraft: apply coding concepts in a fun, game-based environment
  • AI- tools for Video Production: use AI tools to produce and edit video projects

  • Dates: 8 November 2025 - 7 March 2026
  • Time: Saturday mornings from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm
  • Venue: UCC's Western Gateway Building, Western Road
  • Fee: €250 per student for 15 weeks

About MPT Senior

Munster Programming Training (MPT) has been running very successfully for the past 19 years and is now extremely popular. The course is designed for senior cycle secondary school students (ages 15-18) from across the Munster region.  

The programme gives students the chance to explore different areas of computing and develop practical coding skills. It’s designed for students who enjoy problem-solving and want to deepen their interest in technology. This year, the modules have been refreshed to include new and exciting topics.

This year’s modules:
  • Python and Algorithms: develop coding skills and learn how to tackle problems logically.

  • Minecraft Programming: apply programming concepts in a creative, game-based environment.

  • IoT (Internet of Things) Sensor Programming: hands-on work, using sensors to capture data (such as: motion, temperature, or light) and see how it can be used in apps and devices.

  • System and Web Security: learn how computer systems, servers, and websites stay secure through hands-on practical work and supporting theory.
Programme Details
  • Date: 8 November 2025 - 9 May 2026
  • Time: Saturday mornings from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm beginning on 8 November 2025
  • Venue: UCC's Western Gateway Building, Western Road, UCC 
  • Fee: €350 per student for 22 weeks

 

How to Register

  • Step 1: Make a payment via UCC Online Shop

    When registering, please select the correct programme (MPT Senior or MPT Junior) and ensure your child meets the age requirements.
    Payment can be made by PayPal or debit/credit card.
    Unfortunately, we are usually unable to fulfil refund requests. If your child does not meet the age requirements, a refund may be issued (subject to a 14% system processing fee). For any questions or to request an exception, please contact doit4real@ucc.ie.
  • Step 2: Fill Out the Registration Form

    It's important to make a payment before registering to secure your place. Our MPT programmes are highly sought-after with limited availability, and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Step 3: Confirmation email

    Your child's place in the programme is confirmed once you have completed the booking and registration steps. Shortly after making a payment, you will receive a confirmation email from the UCC Shop.
    A welcome email containing programme details and class rules will be sent a few days before classes begin.
