The Final Year Project Open Day was held on Wednesday 27 March and was a complete success. Over 70 fourth year students across the BSc in Computer Science and BSc in Digital Arts and Humanities showcased their projects to lectures, industry representatives, and all interested parties.
There was great interest in this year's batch of fourth years with over representatives from almost 30 different companies coming to view their projects.
Four Companies sponsored prizes on the day, IBM, Intel, Fidelity Investments, and Musgrave. David Murphy won the Intel Prize for his project Posture Recognition for Engagement Detection. Fidelity Investments were impressed by BrĂd Moynihan's Stock-ify: Waste Management Tool and chose to award their prize to her. Finally, Musgrave chose Claire Foran's project, Gesture Recognition and Motion Detection Using Infrared Sensors as their winner. IBM opted to review their notes and will announce a winner in the coming days.
