Launching new Masters by Research in Sustainable Materials and the Environment
The School of Chemistry is excited to announce the launch of a new Masters by Research (MRes) in Sustainable Materials and the Environment for the academic year 2024/2025.
Given the current climate crisis it is timely to offer a postgraduate course on this topic.
The production of materials, like steel and plastic, consumes large amounts of energy and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions which drive climate change.
This impact can be mitigated by moving towards more sustainable materials produced from eco-friendly resources that will help conserve healthy ecosystems and minimise the impact on our planet for future generations.
As the first course of its kind in Ireland, the new MRes in Sustainable Materials and the Environment will cover vital topics such as life cycle assessment, recycling and the circular economy, and the environmental fate and impact of materials.
The course is heavily weighted towards research so is well suited to those who enjoy lab or desk-based project work.
A range of research project topics, such as battery technology, catalysis, and clean energy, will be offered to applicants where they have the potential for significant contributions to scientific knowledge, as well as personal development.
