CoMH Postgraduate Research Student Committee announce their Annual Winter Gathering

Congratulations to the busy committee of the UCC College of Medicine and Health Postgraduate Research Students Committee following the success of their summer BBQ event plans are now well underway for a Winter Gathering event which is sure to be another valuable and fun opportunity for CoMH Research Students to get together.

The Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience is very well represented on the 2023/2024 Committee with Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience postgraduate students Ketki Mulay Chair of the PG committee, Patricia Flynn Secretary and with Joan Omosefe Osayande are the School of Medicine committee representatives. The hardworking committee also includes representatives from the other schools in the College of Medicine and Health:  School of Pharmacy, Michael Neary; School of Dentistry, Jodi Cronin & Harriet Byrne; School of Nursing & Midwifery: Elizabeth Greene & Caroline Egan; School of Public Health: Elizabeth Bodunde & Pawel Hursztyn; School of Clinical Therapies, Leanne Ahern; APC Microbiome Ireland, Aman Saifi; INFANT, Dr Carol Stephens.

The CoMH Postgraduate Research Student Committee is an active student led platform with an aim to connect postgraduate researchers across the UCC College of Medicine and Health. The busy committee organises student socialising and networking events, academic events and the committee is also active in highlighting and resolving post graduate student issues which may arise across the different schools and research centres in the college.

The Postgraduate Research Committee kicked off the new academic year in September with a very successful End of Summer BBQ. Held in Dwyer’s of Cork on Washington Street; over 70 postgraduate students from schools and departments in the College of Medicine and Health gathered to celebrate the start of the new academic year, welcome new postgraduate students, and to build friendships across the various research groups in the College of Medicine and Health.

The committee has been busy organising the much-anticipated Annual Winter Gathering which will take place in Brookfield Health Science Complex on Friday 24th November, this event is the highlight of the year and an event not to be missed. All CoMH research postgraduate students are warmly invited. An evening of fun activities games, food and plenty of chat and is guaranteed.

The committee wish to thank to Professor Yvonne Nolan, Vice Dean of Graduate Studies in the College of Medicine and Health and Professor in Neuroscience for her guidance support, and funding throughout the year. The committee also wish to thank the hardworking chair, Ketki Mulay and secretary, Patricia Flynn for their enthusiasm and leadership, and Ms Jane Hurley and Rebekah Osborne in the Graduate studies office for their continued administrative support.
