Aoife Nolan wins UCC BioSciences PhD Student of the Year 2011
Aoife Nolan wins the “Roche Research Award for UCC BioSciences PhD Student Researcher of the Year 2011”
Congratulations to Aoife Nolan PhD student in the Department of Anatomy on winning the “Roche Research Award for UCC BioSciences PhD Student Researcher of the Year 2011”. Aoife presented her research entitled. ‘Regulation of Rat Sympathetic Axonal Growth by the Inflammatory Cytokines IL-1β and TNF during development.’
Three finalists in the competition presented their current research findings in front of an audience, and were judged by a panel chaired by Professor Tom Cotter Department of Biochemistry UCC. This annual competition is sponsored by Roche Diagnostics Ltd., a market leading healthcare group in research and diagnostics supplies. Aoife will have her name inscribed on the 'Roche Plaque' in the foyer of the Bioscience Institiute, and received a cheque to the value of €200.
Aoife is in the second year of her PhD in the Department of Anatomy working under the supervision of Dr Gerard O Keeffe. Well done Aoife.
