3D Anatomy and Embryology in Medical Sciences Education Seminar

The Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience, was delighted to recently host Iain Keenan Professor of Anatomical Education, School of Medicine, Newcastle University as guest speaker in the Department of Anatomy's popular Seminar Series to deliver a seminar titled Exploring 3D Anatomy and Embryology in Medical Sciences Education.

In his highly visual presentation Professor Keenan engaged the attendees as he showcased the benefits of using 3D visualisation tools to enhance spatial understanding, improve student engagement, and support inclusive learning practices. Participants gained practical insights into integrating these technologies into lectures, laboratories, and assessments, with a focus on evidence-based teaching and curriculum alignment .Professor Keenan leads anatomical sciences teaching for medicine and medical sciences degree programmes and leads research in learning and teaching for the School of Medicine in Newcastle University.

The seminar also provided a forum for interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration, encouraging staff to reflect on current teaching practices and consider new ways to enrich student learning. Hosting this event reinforced the department’s commitment to pedagogical innovation and the continuous enhancement of medical sciences education.
