UCC Physics publication recognised as Editor’s Suggestion in leading journal

1 May 2026

The School of Physics is pleased to highlight a recent achievement by Dr Christopher A. Broderick, whose latest research paper has been published in Physical Review Materials and selected as an Editor’s Suggestion.

Editor’s Suggestions are awarded to a small number of papers that are identified by journal editors as particularly important, innovative, or impactful within their field. This recognition reflects both the quality of the research and its significance to the wider materials physics community.

Dr Broderick, a Royal Society–Research Ireland University Research Fellow and Lecturer in Quantum and Photonics at University College Cork, conducts research at the intersection of advanced materials, photonics, and quantum technologies. His work contributes to the development of next-generation materials with applications ranging from optoelectronics to emerging quantum devices.

The selection of his paper as an Editor’s Suggestion highlights the growing international visibility of research carried out within the School of Physics and its strong links with the Tyndall National Institute.

Congratulations to Dr Broderick on this recognition of his work.
