New Connections SEFS Tyndall Grant Award
An award of €4,000 was granted to Dr. Bryan Kelleher Physics/Tyndall for work with Dr. Fatih Bilge Atar in the III-V group in Tyndall to design, fabricate and analyse optical frequency comb generation using quantum dot lasers in photonic integrated circuits.
Optical frequency combs comprise a series of precisely spaced, discrete frequencies and are crucial for applications in spectroscopy, precision time and frequency metrology, and communications, as well as for fundamental science. On chip combs are greatly desired for many modern applications where space and energy efficiency are increasingly important considerations.
Well done to all involved on the success of this awarded grant!
