IOPI Spring Conference 2025

The annual Ireland Spring Conference event organised by Institute of Physics (IOP) will be held in Galway on 28th February and 1st March 2025.
The theme of the conference will focus on Quantum celebrating the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. This event is ticketed and open to all members of the physics community and further afield. The event will include the Rosse Medal competition, invited talks, networking opportunities and an evening dinner on the Friday.
Postgraduate students are invited to celebrate their research by entering the Rosse Medal science communication competition. The entrants will display their posters across the two days of the event. The overall winner announced on Saturday afternoon will represent Ireland at the 3 minute wonder final. Two entrants from School of Physics, UCC are as follows:
-Patrick O'Callaghan on his paper "Detection of Two Relaxation Times in the Magnetic Monopole Noise of the Spin Ice Ho2Ti207"
-Diarmuid O'Sullivan on his paper "Optimising Optical Frequency Comb Generation with Coupled Integrated Gain Switched Lasers"
Attendees can expect to hear from a range of engaging speakers from industry, academia and further afield, including our very own Professor Alix McCollam also from the School of Physics, UCC who will speak on Friday, 28th February from 2:45-3:30pm.
