UCC Youth Theatre host Cork Midsummer Meet UP 2023

On Sat 24th June 2024 members of Lightbulb Youth Theatre (Mallow), Activate Youth Theatre (Cork City), and UCC YT (Cork City) met in the Granary Theatre workshops, theatre and fun. In total twenty young people and five leaders attended over the course of the day. 

The structure of the day was as follows:

Sat 24th June 

13:30 - Meeting at Everyman Theatre

14:00 - Attend Freefalling

15:30 - Walk to Granary Theatre - Stopping at To Be What We Are 

16:00 - 18:00  - Workshops in Granary Theatre

18:00 - Pizza!

19:15 - Leave to walk to City Hall

20:00 - Attend Sun and Sea

21:30 - Feedback - Hometime 

Youth Theatre participants and leaders all shared a really positive experience from our Midsummer Meet Up and all agreed that we'd like to do it again. It was good to hear and learn from youth theatre members and leaders. 

The informal nature of the event, the social aspect, the sharing, meeting new people and of course the experience of seeing new performances contributed to the success of the day.

Overall participant feedback about the day was very positive:

I think everything worked well, having the timetable helped with knowing the durations of plays and workshops etc.

Thank you for the amazing experience, I cannot begin to explain how much I enjoyed the day and how full of energy I was when I got home. Thank you again !!!
