Helena Walsh is one of Ireland’s leading voice specialists and gives workshops nationally and internationally. Over the past seventeen years she has worked as a vocal coach in many actor-training programmes in Ireland and Europe.  She is an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework, from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, and is the only qualified teacher of this method in Ireland. She also has a certificate in Roy Hart Training.  Mentored in her early years by Andrea Ainsworth, Vocal Director at the Abbey Theatre and Kevin Crawford, founding member of The International Roy Hart Centre, in France, she is director and founder of her own Voice and Body Studio. Helena was co-director of the Fourth International Freedom & Focus Fitzmaurice Voicework Conference Together Liberating our Voices, which was held in Dublin from July 14th to 18th, 2016 at Dance House & Smock Alley. This summer she taught on the Fitzmaurice Voicework teacher-training certificate in Barcelona and works as a mentor on this certification. Over the past number of years Helena taught at The Gaiety School of Acting, on the BA in Acting at Trinity College, and on the N.Y.U. overseas theatre programme.  In previous years she was also a visiting lecturer on the UCC B.A in Drama & Theatre Studies, at Eolia Conservatory Of Dramatic Arts, Barcelona, and at  The Academy of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television, AGRFT, University of Lublijiana, Slovenia. She was co-director and founder of Actor Training Ireland for six years. She Currently teaches on the three-year Theatre Studies program at Inchicore V.E.C., is  voice, body and dialect coach on the full-time Acting for Camera Programme at The Irish Film Academy. She is Co- Director of Articulate Anatomy, which performed an adaptation of Donal Ryan’s ‘The Spinning Heart’ at Smock Alley in July and plans to go on a national tour in early 2017. She regularly teaches at the Academia Dell’Arte, Italy.
