ECurator app now available for iPhone

12 Jan 2026

The ECurator App "Multilingual Audio Database of Spoken and Sung Lyrics from Songs in Oral Tradition" is newly released and could be downloaded for free on the App Store.

ECurator App collects audio recordings of commonly used words in some of China’s minority languages that refer to music and dance genres and activities. Taking the audio recordings of words used in spoken and sung lyrics as its central point, the Database connects these words to their corresponding written scripts: Chinese, English and International Phonetic Alphabet. At the moment, the Database includes Yi Central dialect, Northeastern Yunnan Miao and Southern Bai dialect. The ECura project will include oral music traditions from other ethnic minority groups in the future.
The ECurator App was developed by ECura project (funded by The European Research Council, ECura, 101039864, ERC-2021-STG,  hosted by Music Department, University College Cork, and led by Dr. Lijuan Qian).
Alternatively, you can access the database through   https://www.ecuraarchive.org/find-corpus and   https://www.ecuraarchive.org/corpus
