Funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences under the ‘New Ideas’ scheme, ‘New Cinemas, Changing Audiences’ is an international project that aims to generate debate and knowledge exchange on the following phenomena:
· Production and distribution: how are coproduced and EU-produced films met by their international audiences? Is there such thing as a pan-European audience?
· Digital: how are new technologies impacting on film theatres and on traditional film distribution and consumption?
· Streaming: how are films consumed online?
· Interactivity: how are new filmic forms producing an active spectator?
· Exhibition: What are the problems facing the exhibition sector?
The pilot workshop, ‘New Cinemas, Changing Audiences’ will take place on 10 March 2012, 10 am-5 pm, G27, CACSSS Research Seminar Room, Ground Floor, Block B North, O’Rahilly Building, UCC
