New President of the Society of Economic Geologists visits UCC.
The new President of the Society of Economic Geologists, and a former UCC lecturer, visited the School of BEES recently.
The School of BEES and the MSc in Exploration Field Geology were privileged to have Prof. Judith Kinnaird, the new President of the Society of Economic Geologists, from the University of Wittswaterstrand, South Africa give a recent master class in reflected light microscopy and ore mineral identification.
Judith flew in on her way back to South Africa after her inauguration speech in Colorado. It is fantastic to have former UCC lecturers reaching such lofty heights and still coming back to help the next generation of students. Prof. Kinnaird has also recently taken on Kevin Dalton, a former UCC BSc Geology graduate, for a PhD studying ore deposits in the Congo.
