Mon, 6 Feb 2012

Green Campus The first ever Green-Campus Colloquium took place in Croke Park on 26th January 2012.

The Green-Campus Programme is an evolution of Green-Schools which is a programme developed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). An Taisce is the operator of the Green-Campus initiative in Ireland.

The Green-Campus Programme has been in operation in Ireland since 2007. At present, 18 campuses are registered on the programme and three have been awarded a Green Flag. The Programme encourages practical environmental education and the empowerment of campuses to become exemplar in environmental stewardship.

University College Cork was the fist 3rd level educational institution in the world to achieve a Green Flag. From the beginning, BEES students and staff have been central to this programme.

Prof. John O'Halloran represented UCC at the recent Green Campus Colloquium and his presentation can be viewed here.
