Birds, Balls and Black Holes

Great Tit. Image: John QuinnStudents and staff are invited to attend the recording of Newstalk’s award-winning science programme at 6pm, Thursday 15 November in the Council Room, Main Quad, UCC.

TV science presenter and self-confessed ‘Daredevil Science Guy’ Greg Foot will join a panel that includes Dr John Quinn,  from UCC’s School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences and stargazer Frances McCarthy from Blackrock Observatory to discuss Birds, Balls and Black Holes.  The Futureproof Live! series is supported by Dublin City of Science and is free and open to the public.  Visit Futureproof's Facebook  for details.

Speaking about the event, host Jonathan McCrea said: “We’re delighted to have put together such a strong panel for our trip to Cork.  Greg Foot  is a fantastic presenter and has an ability to make science engaging to a young public, John Quinn is a great story-teller and will amaze you with details about the behaviour of birds and Frances McCarthy is well-known for her outreach programme at Blackrock Observatory.”

The recording of the programme is open to the public, is free of charge and is suitable for over 15s.
