Career Opportunities in The European Commission
By Michael Hamell
The European Commission (EC) oversees development of Agricultural Policy at the EU level. Michael Hamell has worked for the Commission for the past 28 years on agricultural and environmental issues having previously worked for 10 years in the Irish Department of Agriculture following his graduation in Agriculture at UCD. He is currently head of the unit in the directorate general for environment dealing with agriculture, forests and soils. He is chairman of the Commission's nitrates management committee since 1998 and, for environmental issues, of the standing forestry committee. In his talk, Michael will explain in more detail the work of the Commission, describe the challenges of working in Brussels and the process of staff recruitment.
Everyone is welcome.
