BEES Academic Wins Geological Society Award

Prof. John Gamble, School of BEES, UCC is to be awarded the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies award from The Geological Society, London.
It is in recognition of his work on arc magmatism, his dedication to volcanic and magmatic studies and his support of early career researchers.
The VMSG Award is bestowed annually by the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group of the Geological Society, (London), on an individual who has made a significant contribution to the understanding of magmatic processes over the previous 3 – 5 years. Such contributions will most likely be in the form of a paper or series of papers, although other forms of evidence (e.g. convening paradigm-changing workshops and conferences) will also be considered.
The citation stated that the award was: “specifically in recognition of your work on arc magmatism, your dedication to VMSG and support of early career researchers”.
The awardee is invited to deliver the VMSG Keynote lecture at the annual research meeting of the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group.
