“The Review team was hugely impressed by UCC’s journey to date, and by the bold and ambitious strategy that it has set out towards 2028.  All sections of the UCC community expressed support for the strategy and its development.  The Review team found the culture of UCC to be supportive and firmly grounded in principles of fairness, transparency and collegiality.  This, the high quality of the leadership team and the fact that all the documentation examined by the Review team was evidence-based and reflective should give confidence that UCC provides a top quality educational environment and an increasingly impactful research output.  It was an honour to be part of this Review and I have brought many ideas back to Sydney, especially around the excellent support provided to students.”

Self-evaluation

• Self-evaluation is a self-reflective and critical evaluation of UCC’s community to outline how effectively the University assures and enhances the quality of teaching, learning, research and support activities.
• Following the self-evaluation, UCC will produce an Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) and an Institutional Profile (IP).
• The President has established an Institutional Review Group (IRG), responsible for the overall co-ordination, management and consultation for self-evaluation activities and assembling the required outputs of the self-evaluation necessary for the duration of the Institutional CINNTE review process.

External Review 

• An independent Review Team is appointed by QQI to conduct the institutional review.
• The ISER will shape the key points of dialogue with the Review Team.
• In addition, there will be a Site Visit where various stakeholders in UCC will be consulted in order to deepen understanding of the information and data provided in the ISER and IP documents.

The Report

• After the site visit, the Review Team will draft a Review Report that contains commendations and recommendations on actions UCC can take to enhance the quality of education, training, research and support services respectively.
• The University will have the opportunity to review the draft report and provide factual accuracy corrections before the final report is published.

Follow-up

• UCC will develop an Institutional Implementation Plan based on the Review Report.
• This follow-up report should address the recommendations in the Review Report, as well as identifying the range of strategic and logistical developments and decisions that have occurred within the institution since the publication of the Review Report.
