On 17th February 2013 five students and 2 lecturers from the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing & Midwifery in UCC,  will travel to Finland to participate in an eHealth project FISC. There are four countries participating: Finland, Ireland, Slovakia, and Estonia. There will be five students from each country which provides an excellent opportunity to work with students from different countries. Specifically, the content of FISC will focus on how eHealth is developed within each participating country and throughout Europe. The context of national and international strategic developments will be examined as well as how data is shared between healthcare professionals and patients. Students will engage in lectures, group work, web based enquiry, a field trip and of course social events. The module will include student led presentations on current and future eHealth developments from their own countries. One of the anticipated outputs is that the project will form a baseline for developing eHealth education internationally. The project is funded through Erasmus.

The opportunity to participate in the FISC Project is timely because eHealth has been singled out for specific governmental attention in Ireland during 2013 in order to tie in with the upcoming Irish EU Presidency.
